Match Report - 14/01/26
Super League
The Super League this week saw a lot of close wins, a few match disputes, and a fair few dishes to add to the table.
At Bishopthorpe, UptheBish took a 7-5 win over Huntington WMC A. 3/3 for Bish’s Jimmy Lee, and a dish in the 3rd frame from Huntington’s Kristian Strangeway, making him the home Player of the Match. The away Player of the Match was Alice Paylor. This keeps them top of the table.
The Huntington WMC B team had more success than the A’s, beating Bishopthorpe SC A 7-5. Another close game going to 5-5, Huntington’s Graham Jackson had a reverse dish, and away POTM Clive Hartley won the final two frames for a successful night at home for Huntington.
The Huntington WMC C team, also at home, drew 6-6 against Heworth A. A tense final two frames, with Heworth being 6-4 down, saw Paul Mahoney and Dave Gray win the final two games to secure a draw. Heworth awarded Keith Thornton as their away POTM.
A Clockhouse A & P derby is currently in dispute on the app, more on this to come later maybe!
Dick Turpin’s Tom Wilson kicked the night off at the Lighthorseman with a dish. A solid start for the team, who went on to win 9-3. For the Lighthorseman, Ryan Watts, James Medley and Ted Moult made up the 3 frames won, with Ted being awarded the away POTM. The home side deservedly gave their POTM to Tom Wilson.
Another draw happened over at Green Hammerton SC (The Hammers) who hosted the Burton Warriors. Burton’s Lee Reeves had a dish in the 9th frame. The home side awarded Lee the POTM for this, and the away POTM went to Lance Cameron who won 2/3 fixtures. Lewis Hullah won 3/3 of his games for The Hammers.
The Clockhouse Z’s had a good 8-4 win over at the York Hospital Club. The home POTM went to Clockhouse’s Kieran Watson, who won 3/3 frames in the match. The Hospital Club’s Phil Curran won 2/4.
Division 2
From even more mishaps with score reporting, to RackEmApp confusing everyone still, and some interesting wins continues to keep Division 2 the best place to be on a Wednesday. :)
Kicking off the Division 2 report is the Lawrence 8-Ballers 10-2 win over Crescent A. I’m still confused as to why the Ballers have ??? next to their names.
The Edinburgh Legs hosted Clockhouse B at home, with Clockhouse taking an 8-4 win. The Legs awarded their POTM to Paul Sellars, with Clockhouse awarding theirs to home captain Beth Hutson. Evil Harry Nicholas won a frame too for the Legs.
Over at Heworth, the Bs drew against Haxby Sports Bar. I’ve heard no reports of two successfully potted no look blacks again, but who knows… The match looked to be very balanced throughout, with Heworth awarding their POTM to Haxby’s Daniel Rees. Heworth’s Stephen West was awarded away POTM.
More Mitre had a big 9-3 win over the Edinburgh Arms A. The Mitre teams seem to be the Edinburgh’s kryptonite after their 7-5 loss previously in the season. Despite the loss, I was reliably informed the beef stew was lovely.
The Bay Horse had an 8-4 win over The Mitre, with the Bay’s Lewis shep winning 3/3 frames of the night, making him the away’s POTM. The home side awarded Mitre’s Kenny Caton as their POTM.
At the Clifton Hotel, the Ozzy Osbournes beat Rack’EmUp 8-4. The home side awarded Ozzy Pascal Charles their POTM, with the away side awarding Rack’EmUp’s Kevin Butler their POTM.
Over at the The Cross Keys Dunnington, the home side beat The Hogs Head 9-3. A strong win for the Cross Keys who awarded Hogs Head Shaun Major as their POTM, and the away side awarded Cross Keys’ Rob Chappell their POTM.

Division 3
The Hogs Head B and the Hammers Too once again kept pace with each other at the top of the table, both recording 9-3 wins. The Hogs Head defeated Huntington Sports Club B, Andy McDonald and Oliver Bird won all their 3 frames for the Hogs (though Oliver certainly rode his luck)! They remain just 2 points clear at the top. The Hammers won at the Beagle B, with Geoff Almond winning all his 3 frames for the Hammers. Touching Cloth moved up to 3rd - and have a game in hand - with an ominous 11-1 thrashing of the Beagle A. Captain Harry McInerney and Max Warren won all their 4 frames for Touching Cloth. Huntington Sports Club A moved up to 4th with a convincing 9-3 win over the Crescent B, who slipped from 3rd to 6th. Danny James and Ben Tattersall, fresh from a giant killing doubles victory in the week, both won all their 3 frames. With that, Danny retakes top spot in the Player of the Season table. Bradley Seavers won both his frames for the Crescent.
In the other matches, The Windmill are in 5th after a 6-6 draw with The Rec. David Baker was the star for the Windmill winning 4 of their 6 frames. The Saddle’s season is picking up nicely after a slow start, they’re still in last place but now only 8 points off the pack with a game in hand. For them Elliott Peake won all his 3 frames in a 7-5 win that went down to the wire over the other new team, The Ainsty.
And lastly, the Clockhouse W beat the Hospital Club B 7-5, with Jordan Worabec and Gavin Witty winning both their frames for the Clock.
