Week 5 League Matches - 29/10/25
Super League
All the Clockhouse Super League teams found themselves at home again this week, with Clockhouse A convincingly beating Heworth A 9-3. Paul Thomas and Martin Oxberry racked up 6 wins between them, placing them in a close second behind Dick Turpin A in the league table.
Continuing the Clockhouse win streak were Clockhouse Z, beating Huntington WMC A 7-5 in a seemingly close game throughout. From the home team, Clockhouse’s Kieran Watson won 3 frames in the match, with strong performances from the away side’s Kristian Strangeway and Rob Woods.
After their great 10-2 win against York Hospital Club A last week, UptheBish continued their strong start to the season, beating Huntington WMC B 8-4. Unfortunately, they were unable to turn over Clockhouse Z last week in the Knockout Cup, with a close 7-5 defeat.
The final Clockhouse fixture saw the Clockhouse P’s tie against The Hammers 6-6, with two great final frame performances from Clockhouse’s Roger Cheek and Gary Pearce to prevent a victory for The Hammers.
Another draw happened over at the Lighthorseman, with them settling for a 6-6 result against the Burton Warriors. This match saw a great comeback from the Warriors after being 4-0 down initially.
After Dick Turpin A’s shock defeat in the cup to the Edinburgh Arms A last week, they certainly had a strong performance this week, with them beating Bishopthorpe SC A away 8-4. Bishopthorpe’s Paul Broadbent and Scott White made up the four frame wins. The home side awarded Turpin’s Matt Johnston as the Player of the Match, with the away side awarding Scott White as theirs.
An exciting match over at York Hospital Club against Huntington WMC C saw a dish from Huntington’s Tony Turner and a reverse dish from the Hospital Club’s Ian Strickland. Unfortunately for the Hospital Club side, this was not enough to stop Huntington from taking a strong 8-4 win.

Division 2
There were a lot of big wins in Division 2 this week, beginning with Heworth B’s 9-3 win over The Bay Horse. Heworth awarded Bay Horse’s Max Colmann as Player of the Match, notably for winning 2/3 frames for the team. This comfortable win puts Heworth B in 5th place in the league table.
Continuing to take Division 2 by storm are Clockhouse B, who put in another strong performance this week against Haxby Sports Bar, claiming an 8-4 win. Joe Goddard’s reverse dish in the 10th frame solidified Clockhouse’s great performance. The home side awarded Clockhouse’s Joe Goddard as the Player of the Match, with Haxby’s Mark Jagger taking home the away side’s title. Despite Haxby’s loss, they keep at a promising 4th in the table this week.
The biggest win of the night was over at the Edinburgh Arms A, beating The Hogs Head A 10-2. Clearly elated after last week’s Cup Knockout win against last year’s runners up Dick Turpin, the Edinburgh seem to be in great form this season. Again, the addition of more players makes you wonder if the student side will ever stop finding players to add to their team sheet. This puts the Edinburgh up to 3rd in the league table, closely behind Crescent A and leaders Clockhouse B.
The Edinburgh Legs also keep bringing on new recruits, with their side missing out on a win this week to More Mitre, who won 8-4. There were strong performances all round for More Mitre, with the Legs’ having Quin Proctor-Green and captain Beth Hutson, who each won both their frames of the night. As a result, the More Mitre’s Player of the Match went to captain Beth, and the Legs’ Player of the Match went to Connor Calland.
A great week for the Cross Keys Dunnington sees them disrupt Crescent A’s win streak in the league, with them winning 7-5. Cross Keys’ Ryan Lockwood and Len Chappell won 6 frames between them, with the Crescent’s Lucas Bingham and Jef Morris winning both their frames in an attempt to fight back. The Cross Keys awarded Crescent’s Jef Morris as their Player of the Match.
Another 7-5 match over at the Clifton Hotel saw The Mitre take a 7-5 victory against Rack’Em Up in a great week for both the Mitre teams, with strong performances from The Mitre’s Jack Williams and Kenny Caton.

Division 3
At one stage last night the ‘big news’ looked like Clockhouse K had changed their name to Touching Cloth - which I’m reliably informed means needing a tom tit (classy) - as they were 4-2 up against the Ainsty and looked to be heading for another victory to increase their lead at the top. Cue a brilliant fightback from the Ainsty boys as they won 5 of the last 6 frames to pull off a tremendous 7-5 upset. All of their 6 players won at least one frame, Simon Brind winning 2. Touching Cloth stay top, just; they now lead by only one point.
It was definitely a night for the teams in the bottom half of the table at the start of play to shine. Huntington Sports Club B caused an upset convincingly beating The Rec, who’d previously been joint 2nd in the table, 8-4. Key to their success was a superb debut performance from Ree Leeming who won all her 3 frames, and with a hangover as well! The Rec, it seems, fold away from home at the moment….. must be the lack of pizza (they make delicious oven fired pizzas at their home matches for both teams).
The Windmill had a tremendous 10-2 win over the Hospital Club B. Both Tom Mullen and Raffaele Ingrisellj, who moves up to 3rd in the player of the season table, won all their 3 frames for the Windmill and Richard Burrell won both his. This win moves them up to 6th in the table.
Huntington Sports Club A won a closely fought battle 7-5 against the Hogs Head B. The ‘match within the match’ was the battle of the beanies between Danny James of the Sports Club and Rich Guest of the Hogs Head. The beanie clad Danny came out on top and won all his 3 frames to move to the top of the division’s player of the season table! This win for the Sports Club A moves them up into a promotion spot. The Hogs Head slip to 7th, yet they’re only 4 points behind 1st, it couldn’t be tighter at the top!
The Hammers Too held onto 2nd place in the table, just, by drawing 6-6 with the Beagle A. All of the Hammers’ players chipped in with at least one frame, whilst Connor Bond was the star performer for the Beagle, winning all his 3 frames.
The Crescent B moved up to 5th in the table with a good 8-4 win against the Saddle Inn, with Warren Mead winning both his frames for the Crescent.
And finally Clockhouse W won 7-5 at the Beagle B. The stand out performer was Colin Jones who won all his 4 frames for the Clock.
