TEAM KNOCKOUT CUP COMPETITION RULES

COMPETITION RULES NOTE

These Competition Rules shall be read in conjunction with the:

• Constitution and Governance Document

• Playing Rules

• Code of Conduct

• Disciplinary Policy

Where any conflict exists, the Constitution & Governance Document and Playing Rules shall take precedence.


1. PURPOSE

a)       The Team Knockout Cup Competition shall determine the Dartmoor Pool League Team Knockout Cup Champions.

b)       The competition shall be administered by the League.

c)       The competition shall be played under the current Blackball Rules unless otherwise specified by the League.


2. ELIGIBILITY

a)       Entry shall be restricted to Active Teams.

b)       Players must be eligible under the Playing Rules.

c)       Cup-tied provisions contained within the Playing Rules shall apply.

d)       All participating teams and players must comply with the League Governance Pack.


3. COMPETITION FORMAT

a)       The competition shall be played as a team knockout competition.

b)       The Committee shall determine the draw structure based upon the number of entries received.

c)       The competition may include preliminary rounds where necessary.

d)       The draw and competition structure shall be published prior to commencement of the competition.

e)       Once published, the draw and competition structure shall not be altered except in exceptional circumstances.


4. DRAW AND COMPETITION STRUCTURE

a)       The draw shall be conducted by the Committee.

b)       The Committee may utilise preliminary rounds, byes or other formats where necessary to facilitate the competition.

c)       The draw shall be published as soon as reasonably practicable.

d)       The Committee’s decision regarding the draw and progression structure shall be final.


5. MATCH FORMAT

a)       Team Knockout Cup matches shall be played over sixteen (16) frames.

b)       The team winning the greater number of frames shall progress to the next round.

c)       All sixteen (16) frames shall be completed unless otherwise agreed by the Committee.


6. TIED MATCHES

a)       Where a match is tied after sixteen (16) frames, a one-frame shoot-out shall determine the winner.

b)       Each Team Captain shall nominate one player to represent their team in the shoot-out.

c)       The nominated player must have played at least one frame during the match.

d)       The winner of the shoot-out frame shall progress to the next round.

e)       The result of the shoot-out frame shall determine progression only and shall not alter the recorded match score.


7. FIXTURE DATES

a)       Cup fixtures shall be played on dates determined by the League.

b)       Fixtures may be brought forward by mutual agreement between Team Captains.

c)       Fixtures shall not be postponed beyond the published fixture date unless directed by the Committee in exceptional circumstances.

d)       Failure to fulfil a Cup fixture may result in forfeiture of the match.

e)       The Committee’s decision shall be final.


8. SEMI-FINAL AND FINAL ELIGIBILITY

a)       To participate in a Semi-Final or Final, a player must have participated in at least fifty percent (50%) of their team’s completed League fixtures prior to the Semi-Final or Final.

b)       Participation shall be defined as having played at least one (1) frame in a League fixture.

c)       Eligibility shall be determined on the date of the Semi-Final or Final.

d)       The Committee may verify eligibility and request supporting records where necessary.

e)       The Committee may grant a dispensation only in exceptional circumstances where no competitive advantage would be gained.


9. RESULTS

a)       Match results shall be recorded using the League’s approved results system.

b)       Both Team Captains are responsible for ensuring results are correctly recorded.

c)       Any dispute regarding a result shall be referred to the Committee.

d)       The Committee’s decision shall be final.


10. WITHDRAWALS

a)       A team withdrawing from the competition may forfeit its place in the competition.

b)       Where a team withdraws after a draw has been published, the Committee shall determine the most appropriate method of progressing the competition.

c)       The Committee’s decision shall be final.


11. TEAM KNOCKOUT CUP CHAMPIONS

a)       The winning team shall be recognised as the Dartmoor Pool League Team Knockout Cup Champions for that season.

b)       The champions shall hold the title until the completion of the following season’s competition.

c)       Any trophy awarded shall remain the property of the League unless otherwise determined by the Committee.


12. GENERAL PRINCIPLES

a)       The competition exists to promote competitive, enjoyable and sporting participation.

b)       Teams are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the League Code of Conduct.

c)       The Committee may determine any matter not specifically covered by these Competition Rules.

d)       Nothing within these Competition Rules shall override the Dartmoor Pool League Governance Pack.
