From your local to the lights
Ultimate Pool Leagues provide a national competition pathway that starts in your local area.
South Wales will have locally organised 8-team leagues, allowing players to compete close to home while being part of the wider Ultimate Pool network.
Each league runs across three sessions during 2027, with every session providing a new opportunity to become champion.
And there's something significant to play for:
🏆 Win your local league. Qualify for the Grand Finals.
The team finishing top of each league in each session becomes a Session Champion and qualifies for the national Grand Finals.
There are no wildcards or discretionary selections – your place is earned through your performance in the league.
How does it work?
Ultimate Pool offers a different style of local league pool:
🎱 8 teams per local league
Play every other team twice during each session.
👥 Squads of up to 10 players
Five players are selected to represent your team in each fixture.
🎯 Five singles matches
Every fixture consists of five individual singles matches – no doubles.
⏱️ 30-minute match clock
Matches are fast-paced and designed to keep league nights moving.
⏱️ 30-second shot clock
Players experience the timed format associated with Ultimate Pool.
📱 Ultimate Pool App
Fixtures, team selections, player ratings, results and league standings are managed digitally.
The official format uses eight teams, 14 fixtures per team in each session and five individual singles matches per fixture.
International Rules & Blackball
Ultimate Pool Season Two gives local leagues greater flexibility.
Session 1 is played under International Rules.
For Sessions 2 and 3, leagues can be played under either International Rules or Blackball.
Whichever ruleset is being played, the Ultimate Pool format remains – including the 30-minute match clock, 30-second shot clock and UPscore handicap system.
The national Grand Finals are played under International Rules.
Three chances to qualify
With three separate sessions during 2027, you don't have just one opportunity to win your league.
Each session has its own league table and its own Session Champion.
That means every South Wales league can produce three Grand Finals qualifiers across the season.

More than team leagues
Play Ultimate Pool as an individual
You don't need to have a team to get involved.
Alongside the team leagues, we'll be developing singles competitions and local events across South Wales, giving individual players the opportunity to experience the Ultimate Pool format.
These competitions are also a great way to meet other players if you're interested in joining or forming a team.

Building Ultimate Pool across South Wales
Our ambition is to create a network of local Ultimate Pool leagues and competitions throughout South Wales.
There is no cap on the number of leagues that can be established within an Operator's area, meaning new leagues can be created wherever there are enough players, teams and suitable venues.
So if you'd like to see an Ultimate Pool league established in your town or area, register your interest.
The more interest we receive in an area, the easier it becomes to establish a local league.
Ready to get involved?
Your road to the Ultimate Pool Grand Finals could start in your local.
Whether you want to play, form a team, captain a side, enter a singles competition or host Ultimate Pool at your venue, we'd like to hear from you.
