New Season, New Rules
We would like to welcome all teams and players to the start of the new Padiham & District Pool League season.
Following the AGM, the league has officially moved to the International Rules ruleset, which will now apply to all league and competition matches going forward. This change was voted in by the captains and brings the league in line with the rules now used in most organised pool competitions.

**Please note that the section relating to the shot clock should be disregarded. For this season only, the league will continue to use a 60-second shot clock in doubles matches only, as per our current league rules. This is to allow players time to adjust to the new ruleset without adding further pressure. At the next AGM, a proposal may be put forward to introduce the shot clock to all matches and to reduce the time to 45 seconds, in line with official International Rules, but this would need to be voted on by the captains.
As with any change, we expect the first few weeks of the season to be a little unsettled while players get used to the new rules and match format. There will inevitably be situations where players are unsure, or where the game takes a bit longer than usual whilst decisions are checked.
We ask all teams to please be patient during this period. Help and guide each other where possible, especially when playing against teams or players who may have less experience of the International rules.
If any issues occur during a match, please do not react negatively or allow situations to escalate. In most cases, problems can be resolved by the two captains calmly discussing the situation and agreeing on the correct outcome. If a decision cannot be reached, the committee should be contacted for guidance.
The aim for this season is to make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone and to ensure the league continues to be competitive, fair, and enjoyable for all players.
