Bandits finally fell the Oak

Well done to Coton Bandits who were on cue to pot the Premier League Inter-Divisional Cup with a thrilling 6 – 5 blackball shootout victory over the Mighty Oak after the final had finished all square. The Bandits finally got the better of their arch rivals after so many close calls, Joe Warren knocking in the winning black after the shootout went to sudden death. The final itself ebbed and flowed as both sides had an array of talent at their disposal. The Bandits went 2 – 0 & 3 – 1 in front before the Oak reeled off 3 frames in a row including a break dish from Callumn Mulhern. The Bandits could have been forgiven for thinking here we go again, but instead they themselves took the following 3 frames to sit on the hill at 6 – 4. Most teams might have felt some pressure at this point but the Oak seem to revel in it and duly levelled the final taking it into the shootout. Matt Evans railed his troops, but again the teams couldn’t be separated after the first 5 shots, so we entered sudden death where big Joe stepped up to pot the winning shot to the delight of his team-mates.

Well done to Chapel End Libs ‘B’ who fittingly lifted the Mark Storer Memorial trophy with a 7 – 2 victory over the Fox Inn at the Gurkha Corner Bar last night. To be fair to all the final was a lot closer than the score line suggest, but it was the clinical potting of the Libs that saw them home. Nathan Lawley, Ian Baxter and James Thomason producing top class clearances while the Fox’s Bad Woolley knocked in a great finish and his captain Martyn Betteridge producing the shot of the night with an incredibly thin cut on the black. A quality night of pool played in a fantastic manner, both teams full of top people was a pleasure to sort of officiate.

 

 

Well done to the White Lion on taking the Division 2 Inter-Divisional Cup last night at Coton Sports. After a terrific final against Pi55 head Corner had ended all square the Lion took the Blackball Shootout 4 – 3. Another quality of night pool in which the Lion never went behind but saw the Hearty level 4 times as they took it to a shootout. Well done to Jonathon & the White Lion boys and commiserations to Phill and the Hearty team.
