Winter Season Update – Week 1

The Winter season kicked off this week, and we're pleased to report that many teams successfully used the new App on Matchday 1. The App has undergone extensive configuration and testing to get us to this point, and we would like to thank everyone who used it and provided valuable feedback.

We did encounter some issues on Android devices, which have now been addressed in the latest update. Please ensure your app is up to date to avoid further problems.

Competitions Update

Congratulations to all players who won their first-round Singles matches!

The draw for Round 2 has been completed. There are still two matches from Round 1 to be played - these were given an extension as a courtesy due to the timing of the fixture list release. Please note: no further extensions will be granted for any future rounds or competitions.

App Usage Guidelines

  • All teams currently using the app can continue to do so for all matches.
Please also continue to complete the paper match form in the meantime.

  • Teams not yet using the app should contact Simon for access and a usage guide.

  • Important note on team entry: when adding players for each set, you must click 'Lock In' for each player. This ensures the information transfers to the opposing team and keeps names anonymised.
➤ Only do this once both teams are ready.

Reporting Results

  • All competition results must be sent to Tony Clarke (07790 421070), who is the Competitions Secretary and co-ordinates results and draws.

  • If you are using the app, you do not need to send a separate message, as Tony will receive the result automatically - but only if you click ‘Complete Match’.
➤ If you forget to do this, your result may not be recorded, and you could be expelled from the competition.

Refereeing - Foul Breaks

After a foul on the break, it is the referee’s duty to advise the incoming player of cue ball placement:

  • If the white is potted, the call is: Ball in hand from baulk (i.e. behind the line).

  • If the white leaves the table, the call is: Ball in hand (anywhere on the table).

The referee may call this at any time prior to the cue ball being struck. This is not considered coaching - it is the correct procedure.

If you are unsure or need clarity please contact any member of the Committee.

Match Etiquette – Reminder

All players are reminded to vacate the table area once their visit is over.
It is considered unsportsmanlike to remain in the eyeline of the player at the table, stand directly behind them, or crowd the playing area.
This applies to:

  • The outgoing player

  • Teammates

  • Spectators (where possible)

Let’s maintain a fair and respectful playing environment for all.

Interleague Update

Congratulations to Hotshots Frank Smith for securing a Top 3 finish in the current Interleague standings! A big win against Nolans in their final match could see them go on to win the second group stage - best of luck!
