GBC International rules pool Singles League 2026-2027

 A fun, friendly, yet competitive league for players of varying abilities with all matches being played at the Grantham Snooker and Pool club(Billiards club).

Prize money is dependant upon entries, prize money pay outs will be announced prior to the start of the league commencing, with all 4 divisions having the same amount in their respective prize pot.

Prize money is paid to the top 4 league places except in the premier league where the top 8 places  will have a knock out competition to determine prize money, the winner, runner up and semi finalists will recieve prize money.

In all knock out competitions, the winner, runner up and semi finalists will recieve prize money.

Entry Criteria

All players must be members of the Grantham snooker and  Pool club(Billiards club), to apply for membership please do so in person at the Grantham snooker and pool club(Billiards club), minimum age for membership is 10 years old.

Rules

Arranging Matches 

All League matches must be played within 4 weeks of the fixture date, all cup matches must be played on or before the fixture date.

The league encourages both the home and away player to contact their opponent to arrange matches, however it is the responsibility of the home player to contact their opponent  to arrange matches, in the event of either player failing to contact their opponent, the home player will be deemed to be at fault and the away player will be awarded a 5-0 win.

League matches are scheduled to be played every 2 weeks to allow players time for other leagues, competitions, knockouts and catchup matches, players may play a match ahead of the fixture date if mutually agreed by both players.

Match costs will be as follows

League matches(9 Frames) played on a Supreme table £9.00 per match(£4.50 per player)

League matches(9 frames) played on a Rasson table £11.00 per match(£5.50 per player)

Cup matches played on a supreme table will be charged at £1.00 per frame(50p per player)

Cup matches played on a Rasson table will be charged at £1.30 per frame(65p per player)

Match Venue 

All matches for GBC League and GBC Knockouts must be played at the Billiards Club Venue 

Winning Scores 

All scores to be submitted to the RackEmApp and the WhatsApp GBC Results Group, Please help any new players  to get used to the RackemApp for scoring.

Any player issues, conflicts, or disputes will be handled by the following people – Paul Gwyther, Brendan McGarvey, Tony Coleman, Ady Walker, Ryan Hare and Andy Hall.

League Rules 

Format 
9 frames (Play all 9 frames) 1 point per frame won, 3 points for  winning a match.

Cup matches are a race to 5 frames.

By entering the league you are automatically entered into 2 of  the league cup competitions.

The league has 3 knock out competions, a main knock out competition with players from all 4 divisions, a Premier/division 1 knock out competion and a Division 2/3 Knock out competition, all knock out competitions are handicapped, on a divisional basis, with a 1 frame per division head start, as an example if a division 3 player is drawn against a division 1 player the division 3 player will automatically recieve a 2 frame head start which will show on rack em app scoreboard when the match starts.

Lag to decide who breaks first, then alternate breaks

  • We will allow one practice try by both players if agreed. 

  • When both are ready - Choose a player to count down 3-2-1 to start the lag. 

  • Balls must be hit from the baulk Line to the top cushion and return over the baulk line. 

  • The winner is the ball that stops the nearest to the baulk cushion (whether it fell short or bounced off) 

Automatic Loss of Lag 

  • Both balls must hit the top cushion and return over the baulk line. If one doesnt he loses the lag 

  • No contact with side cushions, or pockets, or potting the ball, or the ball leaving the table, or crossing into the opponents half of the table. 

Deciding final league Positions 
If players finish on the same points, positions will be decided by frame difference, If the frame difference is the same, the head to head scores will be the decider. 

Cancelling Games: 

In order to cancel a game that has been booked  the player must notify the club, either in person or by telephone, Tel 01476 564525, If a player is seen to be cancelling last minute for no reason, the committee reserve the right to make the decision on outcome of games and penalties.  

Promotion and Relegation: 

The top 4 players from Division(s) 1,2 and 3 will be automatically promoted to the division above.  

The bottom 4 players from Division(s) Prem, 1 and 2 will be automatically demoted to the league below.  

Play offs: 

 

There will be a play off game at the end of the season with the player in 5th from bottom playing the player in 5th from the league below. For exmaple, in a league of 19 players, 15th place will play 5th place from the division below in a play off match, the winner of this match will be promoted or demoted accordingly.

All play off matches will be a race to 5 frames(best of 9 frames), both players will start of scratch, Divisional handicaps do not apply to play off matches.

Play off matches will be sheduled to be played on finals night.

Claiming Games 

It is not in the spirit of the game to claim games, the committee reserves the right to decide on the outcome of any claimed games and their decision will be final. 

Dropouts 

If a player drops out of the league, the committee will decide any penalties for that player if they ask to re-enter the league at any point in the future. 

Break & Reverse Dish 

This is available on the scoreboard of the App when you add a win. The league does not use or track this statistic, so its available for your personal use only.
