Champs out potted in opener

The new season broke off with both reigning champions and runners up tasting defeat. Oakey Cokey's potted the bragging rights at the Royal Oak as the took down the champs 8 - 7 in a terrific opener. Sean Farrell got the champs off to the perfect start as he broke dished the first frame, they also took the opening section 3 - 2. But the Cokey boys Ant McGuffie, Matt Jones and Barry Milnes levelled the match at the end of the 2nd section. Sean Farrell won his 3rd frame of the night plus a Glen Dunn victory put the Oak on the hill. Ant McGuffie returned to the table and produced an excellent break dish before Lee Judson was on cue to pot all important 15th frame. Team Gurkha Corner edged Lucky Break 8 - 7 in a right humdinger of a match. After the Gurkha took the opening section 4 - 1, Lucky Break hit back to take the second section 4 - 1. The last section saw the first four frames shared before Ant Clarke potted the match winner. Last but by no means least Coton Sports beat Coton Gloves 8 - 7 in the battle of Henry Street. Shaun Johnston starring with 3 wins for the Sports while Karen Moore potted the deciding frame.
