Oakey Cokey all in to take the Dave Burnett Memorial Trophy
The Oakey Cokey were on cue to beat the Hare & Hellhounds 7 – 5 to pot the Dave Burnett Memorial Trophy. In what turned out to be an epic night of pool at Coton Sports Club the Oak got off to a flyer taking the opening 2 frames in quick-fire fashion through Kerry Greenham & Keith Wilson. Matt Jones put the Harun on the score sheet before Ian Worthington restored the Oaks 2 frames advantage. Simon Snounou (who won the best fancy dress comp see pic) put the Oak 4 – 1 up only to see Harun captain Matt Trigg steady the Haruns nerves by potting the 6th frame. Keith Wilson & Kerry Greenham returned to the baize to put the oak on the hill as an early finish looked on the cards. But the Hellhounds released the shackles and started to roar, Matt’s Jones & Trigg returned to win their 2nd frames of the evening and when Clayton Harper took the 11th frame a remarkable comeback looked on. But unfortunately no-one had informed Mark Whitmore about this and he duly potted the winning frame much to the delight of his Oak team mates. Big thanks to both teams for playing the final in the way the game should be played, your both a credit to the league. Also abig thank you to all at Coton Sports Club for their continued support and for looking after everyone.
