Chairman's Cup & Secretary's Cup:
The Chairman's & Secretary's Cups are our Season Opening Matches, they feature last year's League Champions facing off agains our Cup Winners.
Chairman's Cup - Premiership Champions vs President's Cup Winners
Secretary's Cup - Championship Champions vs Memorial Cup Winners
(WHERE THE SAME TEAM WINS THE LEAGUE AND CUP, THE 2ND PLACED TEAM IN THE LEAGUE IS SELECTED TO COMPETE, IF THE 2ND PLACED TEAM IN THE LEAGUE IS ALREADY COMPETING THEN IT FALLS TO THE 3RD PLACED TEAM)
These Cups are awarded in recognition of our current Chairman and Secretary and their services to the League.
President's & Memorial Cups
Each year a draw is done from all League Teams, the winners of those matches go on to compete in the President's Cup, the remaining teams form the Memorial Cup, The Cups are then re-drawn every Round thereafter.
The President's Cup (Previously known as The Garfin Cup) is awarded in recognition of our honourary President and previous serving Chairman Chris Garfin. Chris played an instrumental part in bringing the Bedford League and Leigh Independent League together - taking on the role of Chairman for the then newly formed Bedford Independent Pool League (which he held for several years) he helped shape the building blocks for what is Leigh & District Independent Pool League, in recognition of his services Chris was awarded the title of Honorary President in 2026.
The Memorial Cup is awarded each year in remembrance of those who unfortunately are not with us to celebrate on presentation evening, each year we ask that if you would like to add a name to the dedication list that you make a member of the committee aware so can help honour their memory.
SINGLES & PAIRS KNOCKOUTS
Played across the Season and finishing with the Finals being held on Presentation night our Singles and Pairs Knockouts are open to all that play in the League - all matches are "best of 3" with a single toss determining who breaks.
These Knockouts are a straight draw (Meaning they are drawn out only once and played down from there). For the first few rounds due to numbers, dates are on the Calender, Venues & Fixtures are provided and are given at Delegates Meetings.
When the competitions get down the last 64, they are played (at a calender of) between Delegates meetings with the players arranging their own Day/Date/Time to play. The fixtures are to be arranged between the players with the "Home" player contacting the "Away" player (Contact Numbers fro team delegates are in the Handbook & Players can also be contacted via Facebook) The results must be given to their Delegate and posted to the groups' Facebook page.
Premiership & Championship
Our Premiership & Championship Competitions play out each year and are tightly contested affairs, points are awarded on each match score at a rate of 1 point per frame won (with a maximum 9 points available per match) in the event of a season tie frames for and against tied teams are the decider, where this is equal overall frames for and against are the decider. (Where this is equal - Prizemoney / Cup is then shared)
2027 Championship Knockout Trophy
As this year the Championship contains less teams than the Premiership there will be an end of year Championship Knockout, a draw will be done from all 16 teams in the Championship, this Draw will then play down over the final four weeks of the Season.
