WELCOME TO THE LEAGUE
1.1 About the League
The Frome & District Pool League was established to provide organised, competitive pool in a friendly and inclusive environment for players and venues within Frome and the surrounding district.
All matches are played to the current World Pool Players Blackball Association (WPPBA) Blackball Rules, subject to the local variations outlined within this handbook.
The League aims to:
• Promote cue sports within the local community
• Provide structured and fair competition
• Encourage sportsmanship and respect
• Maintain high standards of organisation and conduct
The League operates under an agreed set of rules to ensure consistency, fairness, and transparency across all competitions.
1.2 Spirit of the League
While competition is important, the League places strong emphasis on respect, integrity, and enjoyment of the game.
All players, captains, venues, and spectators are expected to:
• Treat opponents and officials with respect
• Accept decisions in a sporting manner
• Play in the spirit of fair competition
• Represent their team and venue responsibly
Unsporting behaviour, abuse, or deliberate disruption of matches may result in disciplinary action under the Official League Rules.
1.3 League Organisation
The League is managed by two appointed League Organisers.
The League Organisers are responsible for:
• Organising fixtures and competitions
• Managing League finances
• Enforcing League rules
• Conducting Cup draws
• Handling disputes and disciplinary matters
• Organising Captains Meetings
Where appropriate, decisions may be put to a captains’ vote.
Unless otherwise stated within these rules, the decision of the League Organisers is final.
1.4 Communication
Official League communication will take place via:
• The Captains WhatsApp Group
• The Venue WhatsApp Group
• The League Facebook page (if applicable)
It is the responsibility of team captains to:
• Ensure they receive League communications
• Share relevant information with their players
• Submit results and respond promptly when required
