McCulloch Cruises to Title
Congratulations to Ultimate Pool pro Stuart McCulloch who cruised thru the field to defeat his old friend and mentor Martin Fisher in the final to lift the Graham McKeown Trophy as the A&D Singles winner for 2026
A field almost 70 strong attended qualifying over Fri & Sat to battle their way thru to the last 16 on Sunday
Holder Martin Fisher got proceedings underway on Finals Day with a convincing 6-1 win against Brian Logan on the stream table
Meanwhile in the other half of the draw the sign of things to come were taking shape as Stuart had an equally impressive win over the unlucky Nial Sanderson
The pair were joined in the qtr-finals by eventual semi finalists Kev Dunlop & Paul Gillespie aswell as Kyle Hood, Stewart Graham and Dynamo pairing David Finnett & Kieran Clark
Qtrs saw Kev come thru a decider again Kyle, Fish continued his good progress with another 6-1 against Stewart Graham. A battling Finnett managed to wrestle a couple of frames off an otherwise relentless McCulloch. In the all Dynamo clash Keeran knew his place in the team nxt Thursday night depended on his captain making the semis
In the semis the class came to the fore as Stuart & Fish made short work of the best of the rest with 7-2 & 7-3 wins respectively
The high quality final that followed was a fitting tribute to G-Man himself as mentor & protege battled it out wiv dishes galore. Quality shone thru in the end with Stuart running out an eventual 7-3 winner
Commiserations to Fish on a great effort at retaining the title and congratulations to the Graham McKeown Trophy Winner 2026 Stuart McCulloch 👏👏
Thanks as always to our hosts & sponsors Ayr 8ball Club for all their support throughout the season and to all committee members that gave up their time to ref, supervise heats, look after stream etc. A wee mention also for David Gillespie who we roped into streaming
A special mention and thanks has to go to Ryan Reid the best helper the committee has who spent all weekend manning the stream, allocating tables and keeping everything running smoothly. Well done Ryan 👏👏
Thanks all
