League leaders the Dynamos secured their first cup of the season beating reigning champs the Whitehorse A 8-5 in a good standard final in the Saints
The holders got off to a good start with a Robert Cuthbertson victory over Tony McCartan but that was as good as it got for the Whitehorse as the Dynamos took control of the final with wins for Kieran Clark, Blair Campbell, Jock Cuthbertson & David Finnett.
A Neil Mitchell victory over Dynamos captain Paul Gillespie reduced the deficit to 4-2 after the first set of singles
With the run of the balls in their favour the in-form Dynamos went further ahead by claiming both doubles to extend their lead to 6-2 with wins for Sammy Brown & Stevie Johnson over Stewart Graham & David McGawn and David & Kieran over Cubby & Rab Kane respectively
A David McGawn win delayed the inevitable at the start of the second set of singles to keep the Dynamos on the hill a while longer but victory came courtesy of a Tony McCartan clearance in the very next frame for an excellent 7-3 win
Whitehorse took the following two frames courtesy of Craig Sturgeon and Neil Mitchell with the Dynamos winning the last with Stevie J rolling back the years
Final score….Dynamos 8-5 Whitehorse A
Congratulations to the Dynamos, KO Cup Winners 25-26
With thanks to both teams for an entertaining well contested respectful final
Thanks also to our hosts and sponsors the Saints for their hospitality. Thank you to Ryan Reid for reffing all night and to Michael Purdie for all his efforts trying albeit unsuccessfully to provide a stable stream last night. It was not for the want of trying
Thanks all
