🏆🎱 ALES Cup: Week 6 🎱🏆

A mixed week of results saw the leading teams record big wins alongside a number of closely fought matches. One fixture was affected by errors that led to voided frames - a timely reminder that the rules must be followed (yes Dan, even Co‑Chairmen aren’t exempt). Next week marks the final round of the first half of the Cup, before league fixtures resume.

------------------------------------------------------------

🏆 Group A:

  • Egham & Hythe Youth 6 - 4 Egham & Hythe Ladies:
    • This result has been amended after it was confirmed that both teams fielded players in illegal positions. As a result, two frames were awarded to Egham & Hythe Ladies, with the remaining frames forfeited and no points awarded. Aside from this, it was a positive outcome for Egham & Hythe Youth, who secured back-to-back wins.

----------------------

  •  London Stone 6 - 7 Egham & Hythe Whites:
    • “Class is permanent, form is temporary” but for Luke Emmett, neither has been on show recently, with another defeat added to his record this week. Despite that, Egham & Hythe Whites edged a hard‑fought 7–6 victory. It was a tight contest throughout, ultimately decided by Dan Emmett’s win over Callum Godfrey to seal the team result.

----------------------

  • NRS 1 - 12 Three Tuns:
    • Another emphatic win for Three Tuns A, who cruised to a dominant 12–1 victory against NRS, who were missing star man Jason Willerby. The only frame conceded came in the doubles, where Paul Cutler and Calvin Christian picked up a point. Bonus points were added thanks to a break dish from Leighton Cumber, followed by a reverse dish from Martin Court, rounding off a huge all‑round performance.

----------------------

  • SS&NR Club 9 - 4 Staines Cons New:
    • SS&NR have found some form in the Cup, while Staines Cons New suffered back‑to‑back defeats as SS&NR ran out 9–4 winners. The introduction of new players Stephen Franklin and Bruno Santos added strength to the SS&NR lineup. A dominant start proved key, with SS&NR winning all five opening frames before Staines rallied and found some form of their own. However, it wasn’t enough to stop SS&NR pulling clear and securing the win.

🏆🏆 Group B:

  • Jolly Butcher 6 - 7 Sunbury Con Club B:
    • Another unlucky result for Jolly Butcher who just cant seem to find a way to get a win but kept the score close with a narrow 7-6 loss to Sunbury Con Club B. A close match with both teams level at 4-4 after the Doubles. Sunbury Con B did win the next two to look like they could get the comfortable win but in fighting spirit Jolly Butcher came back with wins from Adrian Jaques and Hip Patel before Bobby Heard beat Emma Cooper to get the win, 7-6 for Sunbury.

----------------------

  •  Staines Cons D 8 - 5 Eddies:
    • A strong start turned into a shock Cup defeat for Eddies, who had been in good form in the competition, as Staines Cons D raced into a 5–0 lead. Eddies pulled a couple of frames back in the doubles, but momentum swung firmly back Staines’ way after Tony Sparrow saw off Chris Atwell and then Hiss Salih to seal an 8–5 victory. It was also a welcome return for Hiss Salih to the Eddies lineup after several weeks away.

----------------------

  • Sunbury Con Club A 6 - 7 WR All Stars:
    • It was a match of two halves, with Sunbury Con Club A taking an early 4–2 lead and extending it to 5–3 after the doubles. Momentum then swung as John Sleet, Michael Punter and Stacey Cox all picked up singles wins to give WR All Stars a 6–5 advantage. Shaun Meehan levelled the match once more, but a big win from Stewart Harmes in the deciding frame secured the victory for WR All Stars.

----------------------

  • WR Sports A 10 - 3 Shepperton Sports:
    • Another strong performance from WR Sports A, who showcased their strength in the singles by winning nine of the ten frames. Sunbury managed to claim the opening singles through Lito Estrella against Ben Reading, but it proved to be their only success on the night. A special mention also goes to Ethan Coates, who produced a reverse dish in frame nine against Allyn Sutton. WR Sports A saw out a convincing 10–3 victory.

🎱 Dishes:

  • Ethan Coates (Reverse Dish) vs Allyn Sutton (Frame 9)
  • Leighton Cumber (Break Dish) vs Vinny Mitchell (Frame 11)
  • Martin Court (Reverse Dish) vs Calvin Christian (Frame 12)
