New Season!!!

Welcome everyone to the new season newsletter, the fixtures for the new season are now live on the website www.rackemapp.com/leagues/SettlePoolLeague and in your app, please note, the Season will commence on the 2nd September, so please make sure your team and venues are aware.

Following on from the AGM, there have been a few changes brought into the league this year. These are detailed below, please read through these carefully, make sure your team is aware and if there are any questions please contact the League secretary.

League

We again have 12 entries to the league this season, the league format will remain the same as last year with the season commencing on Wednesday 2nd September, the team knockout and plate, will be played in full, taking us up to the Christmas break, we shall then recommence in the New Year with the remaining league games, followed by the Singles and Doubles Knockouts, again the presentation night will be held on the same night as the doubles. There are no changes to any Rules.

Substitute Players

We discussed the use of Substitute Players at the AGM and it was decided to keep this option, but with a slight ammendment, from this season, the team the opposition choose, cannot be the same player in both sets of 5 frames.

Team Knockouts

The Team Knockout, will follow the same format as last year, with the loosing teams from the 1st round entering the Plate Knockout, these will again be played up until the Christmas break, commencing on 2nd December, again the Knockout final will be arranged for a neutral venue at a mutually agreeable date for the teams involved. a slight change to the knockouts this year with the introduction of the "Team Frame" which will replace the singles frame in the 2nd Half, this frame is played similar to scotch doubles, but instead of just being doubles, it is all of the teams players who have played during the game night, the playing order of this frame, is following the draw from the night.

Individual Knockouts

The individual Knockouts, will again take place at The Knights Table, with the singles on 10th March 2027 and the Doubles/Presentation night on the 17th March, a few concerns were raised with the finishing time of the knockouts, so they will be capped at 40 entries for the singles anf 28 entries for the doubles, we will also commence the knockouts half an hour earlier with a start time of 7pm.

Suppers

This season, due to some venues struggling to provide suppers, it has been decided that venues no longer need to provide a supper for pool nights.

Sustainability

Over the years the league is gradually lowering in both teams and venues, we are actively looking for ways to grow the league, by encouraging new players, teams and venues. If you are aware of anybody who may be interested in joining the league, or if you have any ideas of how we may strengthen the league, please let me or any member of the committee know.
