The Midland Railway seem to be enjoying the Phi Sayer Memorial Trophy this season as they knocked out another Premier League side. After sharing the 12 frames with Coton Snooker they once again out potted their opponents in the shootout to make it through to the quarter finals. Holders Mighty Oak were given a stern test by Chapel End Libs 'B' before potting 5 nanswered frames to make the last 8. The big tie of the round saw Coton Bandits take on Atherstone Cons 'A' with the Bandits returning down the A5 with a 7 - 1 victory, Karl Knight knocking in a beak dish for the Bandits. Ant Clarke had reverse dish for the Gurkha Corner but couldn't stop his side going out 7 - 3 to Chapel End Libs 'A', the Gurkha Rejects also bowed out going down 7 - 2 at The Travellers, Baz Blakemore with a break dish for the Bulkington Roaders. Elsewhere Coton Old Boys had an excellent 7 - 4 victory over Royal Oak Roadhouse, Ted Brocklehurst, Fred Starkey and Mick Orr amongst the winners while Atherstone Cons 'B' took the last 3 frames of the match to edge the Legless Lions 7 - 5, Steve Hammond with the match winner.
The White Lion produced the comeback of the night in Doug Postin Memorial Shield, trailing 5 - 2 at the Hare & Hellhounds they reeled off 5 frame in a row to take the match, Adam Kirby with the winning frame. Iain Throw knocked in a reverse dish for the Flagnificent 7 as they beat Wheatsheaf 7 - 2. Chloe Johnson potted the match winner for Kingswood Tavern as they got the better of CJ's while 5 man Coniston Tavern produced a terrific display to beat Oakey Cokey in a shootout. Elsewhere their were wins for the Fox Inn, Atack Snooker and Lucky Poke n Hope.
